RAF MEMORIAL, EMBANKMENT

RAF Memorial Embankment

Head down, walking to where I need to go, is what usually happens when I walk along the Embankment in London.  Recently I was lucky enough to go on a bike tour with Donkey Republic during Traverse17 during which we stopped to look at views often.  One of those pauses was by the RAF Memorial in order to take in the views of the London Eye across the river.  I have never noticed this before.  It is probably  photographed to best advantage from a boat in the river but I liked this looking up shot especially with the passenger jet sneaking into shot in seeming tribute.  My great uncle Alec Boardman was killed whilst flying for the Royal Flying Corps in 1918, he was 19.  It felt like an appropriate place to remember him.
