Drum roll please …… the votes have been counted and the next two occupants of the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square have been revealed.

Fourth Plinth winners

And the winner is ….. ‘The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist’ by Michael Rakowitz.  In March 2018 a  recreation of the winged Assyrian bull destroyed by Isis in Mosul will grace the Fourth Plinth.  He will be made not from marble but of date syrup tins, to represent the Iraqi date industry that has also been destroyed by Isis.

And the winner is also …… THE END by Heather Phillipson which will occupy the Fourth Plinth in 2020.  This giant swirl of cream topped with an appetising cherry, a less tempting fly and a drone will broadcast live pictures of Trafalgar Square direct to phone.

Did you cast your vote?  Will you be seeing your favourite in Trafalgar Square?

I didn’t vote as I didn’t know about this deep in the provinces but I was in London during the summer of Anthony Gormley’s 4th plinth. It was an amazing experience
