Norfolk coast or Suffolk coast?  That is the pleasant dilemma that we face when staying at my parents’.

Fish and Chips usually features high on the wish list of our chosen destination.  That means that Suffolk will win.  Our favourite fish and chips in the whole wide world (and we’ve tried quite a few) is Mrs T’s at Southwold harbour.

Mrs T’s is a family business.  The fish that you eat is fresh off the family fishing boat.  Southwold town is a slick and glamorous place.  Awash with expensive cars.  The harbour by contrast is a proper working place.  Fishing boats and yachts line the creek.  There is a small row boat ferry that makes the journey back and forth to Warbleswick.  Mrs T’s is housed in a converted fisherman’s hut that is basic.  You can choose to eat in a room attached to the shed or on tables outside.  Where ever you eat them Mrs T’s are the best fish and chips in the world.

Have you been to Southwold?  Where do you think does the best Fish and Chips?

If you are interested in all things fishy and East Anglian how about a visit to Time and Tide in Great Yarmouth.

You can’t beat a good fish and chips – sadly none of the ones around us are anything more than mediocre. 🙁

My brother always insists on a trip to Southeold for fish and chips when he comes home from America. I wasn’t able to eat the chips at one shop last time we went as they were still cooked in beef (and I’m veggie).
