Cultured Kids #34

How is it possible that we are on the brink of December and time for Cultured Kids #34.  Time to sort out your cultural Christmas posts (non Christmassy ones also welcome) and link up!  I’ve yet to hear Noddy Holder hollering out “It’s Christmas” but it can only hours away until I do.

We have some cultural events lined up in December.  Now that the teens are too grown up for pantomime we have new tradition ….. we go to the Royal Institution for the Wifi Wars Xmas Bash.  You need a fully charged smart phone and the whole audience joins in playing games from Pong right up to whizziest new computer game on the block.  I confess that when I bought tickets for this last year it was with the teens in mind but we all loved it, even me the world’s worst gamer.

Watching the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures on TV has been a Christmas highlight for as long as I can remember.  A couple of years ago we bought the boys membership of the Royal Institution and that meant that they could go to recording of lectures.  No grown ups allowed, so watching on TV was even more exciting than usual trying to spot the teens in the audience.  For details of gift membership of the Royal Institution and lots of other museums and galleries check out my London Museum Membership post.

Before we dive into Cultured Kids #34 ….. can I just mention that Catherine’s Cultural Wednesdays is up for the UK Blog Awards both the Arts and Culture and the Travel sections.  If you could see your way to voting for me that would be super.  You can find me on page 6 of Arts and Culture and page 10 of Travel ….. just click here.

Last month Megan’s favourite post was Family Fun Remembering Loved Ones at Day of the Dead Celebrations in the UK from Lucy at Kids of the Wild.  Scarlett really loved Spanish Flu at the Florence Nightingale Museum from Museum Mum.

What have you got planned for December?  We’d love to read all your cultural posts, Christmassy or otherwise, on Cultured Kids #34. My offering this time is all about the Christmas Light Trail at London Zoo.

Wifi Wars is fantastic even if, like me, you are rubbish at gaming

while gaming isnt my thing personally, i am always looking for ideas for family fun, especially where there is age difference in kids, and this would make the list!

That where I was last year when I bought tickets, but it was a brilliant family outing!
