Back to school and into some kind of a routine. There is still time for culture though. This weekend see’s Open House London when places that are not usually open to the public through their doors wide open for all to visit. My Cultured Kids post this week is all about Turner’s House in Twickenham which has some special tours for the big weekend. If you are seeking inspiration for where else to visit check out my account of where we discovered during Open House last year. I especially liked this embroidery at the Romanian Cultural Centre in Belgrave Square.
My really, really, really exciting news since the last Cultured Kids is that Catherine’s Cultural Wednesdays is a finalist in the Reader’s Choice category of the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging awards. Nell, the founder of Cultured Kids is also a finalist in the Travel category. If you would like to vote for either of both of us click one VOTE HERE.
Almost as soon as the teens had gone back to school I jumped on a Eurostar with my mother. We headed off to Amsterdam to celebrate her birthday. A series of firsts for her; first time on Eurostar, first time through the Chunnel and first time in the Netherlands. I was able to introduce her to the concept of chocolate sprinkles at breakfast time. Culture of the best kind!
Whilst in Amsterdam we visited the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum. We didn’t find any new Dutch Cultural Ducks to add to my collection but did spot this rather fine Rembrandt inspired PlayMobil.
Our favourite posts from Cultured Kids last time were:

Have you been on any cultural adventures? Co-host Emma from Bavarian Sojourn and I would love to read your posts. Here’s a reminder of the rules.
